Alphabet Scavenger Hunt – Easy DIY Toddler Activity -

In need of an easy and inexpensive DIY activity for your toddler? Check out this Alphabet Scavenger Hunt! It’s a great way for your little one to learn letters.

My son learned his uppercase letters pretty quickly, but is still getting the hang of lowercase letters. To help him out, I set up this scavenger hunt where he has to find the lowercase letters that I’ve hidden around the house and match them to the uppercase letters that I put on the wall.

What you will need:

5 pieces of paper (I used 8.5 x 11 inch printer paper)
26 sticky notes
Scissors
Markers
Tape
A clear wall that your toddler can reach

Instructions:

Fold 5 pieces of paper in half, hot dog style. Cut along the folds.
Write 3 UPPERCASE letters per half sheet of paper.
Tape the papers in alphabetical order along a wall (toddler height).
Write each lowercase letter on a sticky note.
Hide the sticky notes around the house.
Have your toddler hunt for the lowercase letters one at a time.
Your toddler should then stick the lowercase letter on top of the UPPERCASE letter.
Keep it going until your toddler finds all the letters.
Learn and have fun!

If your toddler is like mine and wants to do the letter hunt over and over again, you can take it a step further by having them share what the letter sounds like and words that start with each letter they find.

A is for a-a-apple. Z is for z-z-zebra.
