“Twin Power” by Benjamin Young M.D. & Kiyanda Young M.D. | Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2022
This year is the 9th annual Multicultural Children’s Book Day event. I am excited to be participating for the first time as a reviewer and to learn more about multicultural children’s books.
The book I was paired and gifted with was Twin Power by Benjamin Young M.D. & Kiyanda Young M.D., illustrated by Imre Papp.
Although I am not a twin mom, my son and I really enjoyed reading this book. It explains what being a twin means by introducing us to twin brother and sister, Sebastian and Simone, and their twin power. The book shows how working together can be lots of fun and even helpful at times.
At the end of the story, there’s a page filled with questions to challenge your child’s reading comprehension skills. The book even includes pages for your little reader to color at the end!
Check out their website for more information and to access more fun, downloadable activities! www.twinpowerbooks.com.

Synopsis from Amazon:
Sebastian and Simone are not just brother and sister. They are twins!
They show little readers some cool things they can accomplish because of their “Twin Power.”
Join them in their adventures to see how “Twin Power” and working together make being twins super fun … and convenient.
“Twin Power” is the first in a series of Twin Power Books starring fraternal twins named Simone and Sebastian. The twins learn how to work together and teach little readers about what it means to be a twin and a best friend.
The stories and adventures that the twins experience will show all children how to use teamwork to accomplish tasks.
Through a series of activities included at the back of each book, little readers will practice memorization while having fun coloring.
Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2022 (1/28/22) is in its 9th year! This non-profit children’s literacy initiative was founded by Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen; two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on all of the multicultural books and authors on the market while also working to get those books into the hands of young readers and educators.
MCBD’s mission is to raise awareness of the ongoing need to include kids’ books that celebrate diversity in homes and school bookshelves. Read about our Mission & History HERE.
