Reading Wrap Up | Books I Read in Q3 2022
I did not stay on track with my reading this quarter. Oops! So, looks like this last quarter I’ll have to really get ahead so I can reach my annual goal of 24 books.
But, of the few books I did finish reading, they were all really good!

The No Club: Putting a Stop to Women’s Dead-End Work
by Linda Babcock, Brenda Peyser, Lise Vesterlund, & Laurie Weingart
Genre: Self-Help
MY THOUGHTS:
This was a great book that I think every employee and manager should read. It was interesting to learn why women are usually the ones to do non-promotable tasks and how to fix that. Luckily, I don’t currently face that issue, but I’ll now be more conscious of this through my career. The book did get a bit repetitive at some points, but maybe just to ingrain these important ideas.
MY THOUGHTS:
I did not realize this was a murder mystery when I finally picked picked up this book (I was saving it for summer time). So, that was a bit of a shocker when that happened. Drue & Daphne were frenemies. Drue was the mean, rich girl growing up with family issues. Daphne was her plus-size friend that shows us how to be confident in your skin.
MY THOUGHTS:
The twists in the book kept me intrigued and guessing. We find things out as the main character, Hannah, is finding things out about her husband (who has disappeared) and his past. She is left to figure things out with the help of her step-daughter, who is not her biggest fan. I’m a bit torn about how it ended. Nothing was really resolved, but at least they seemed content.
MY THOUGHTS:
The amount of twists… wow.. all the way to the end. I really enjoyed this book. It started a little slow, introducing the husband and wife who win a weekend getaway to hopefully help their marriage. But, then it all make sense at the end. It got pretty creepy at some points. Each chapter was told from a different character’s perspective and jumped back and forth between past and present.

Hi Breanna, I sought out your page because I saw a Facebook friend doing your 30 days of gratitude challenge, then I started doing it, then another friend of mine started. So thank you for that page of prompts! I like your suggestion to start the day with gratitude. Lots of journalers prescribe listing things from your day, but then we go to sleep. Both would be best, I imagine.
I pretty much haven’t met my reading goals since I started working from home in 2013, maybe since I stopped being able to take the bus to work in 2008 or so. Back then I didn’t even need to set a goal.

Oh, I’m sure reading on the bus really helped with completing your reading goals! I try my best to read a bit every morning and when I have time before bed. But, doesn’t always happen.
